Without doubt, though, the highlight of the April meeting is always the announcement and recognition of an exceptional community volunteer, the Woman of the Year. Nominations were taken during the months of January and February and a selection committee has chosen an awardee who has consistently, over-time, made meaningful contributions to Ridgerunners, Big Canoe, and/or the surrounding community through active participation in events and projects. The recipient of the award is always a closely guarded secret, not shared until the day of the celebration.
This year’s celebration on April 18 will feature a fashion show with Ridgernners members Kitty Murphy, Chris McGuire, Jane Johnson, and Jenny Evans modeling spring and summer fashions from Daisy Boutique in downtown Jasper.
